Private tour to the military port city in Russia located near St. Petersburg, which became open to visitors only in 1996
Kronstadt is an unusual suburb of St. Petersburg. Located on the island of Kotlin in the Gulf of Finland, the city throughout its history served as the sea shield of St. Petersburg and the capital of the Baltic Fleet of Russia. It was here that the world’s first icebreaker was built. Kronstadt is simply fascinating. Subtle atmosphere of the port city, strict canal lines, the magnificent Naval Cathedral. Most recently, Kronstadt could be reached only with a special pass, today it is one of the most beautiful historical districts of St. Petersburg, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Kronshtadt has a lot in common with St. Petersburg: the Admiralty, the Summer Garden, the Gostiny Dvor, the Blue and Green bridges, and even its own cannon that gives a mid-day shot.
