After hotel pickup in the morning, depart Seoul by air-conditioned coach for the 1-hour drive. Your full-day itinerary starts with a tour of the Yongin MBC Drama TV set. Follow your guide past elaborate sets used in the filming of Korea’s most popular dramas including Queen Seon-deok, The Moon that Embraces the Sun, and Jumong.
Constructed from historical records, the sets accurately depict structures from the Silla and Joseon dynasties. You can enter a royal household, sit on a throne and even touch household items on display. Pose for a photo op with a life-size poster or, if you’re lucky, ask for a pic with an actor on set during filming! If you’d like, dress up in period costume (additional cost, payable direct).
After all the excitement, settle your nerves with lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy classic Korean dishes such as bulgogi (beef in a marinated soy sauce) or bibimbap (steamed rice with assorted vegetables and minced beef — vegetarian option available).
Afterward, you’re taken to the Korean Folk Village, a living showcase for Korean folklife and culture dating back to the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897), including more than 200 relocated and restored traditional homes. On a walking tour your guide points out dwellings once housing commoners, farmers and noblemen.
Pop into workshops to observe pottery making, basket weaving and the production of other traditional crafts such as wooden clogs, straw sandals and musical instruments. You might also watch tightrope acrobatics, a traditional wedding ceremony or an equestrian show at daily performances.
Conclude your day steeped in Korean history with a trip to the Duty Free stores for some shopping before returning to your Seoul hotel.
