If you don’t have time or the budget to make it to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, why not explore the base of the mountain? This one dayhike will take you to the starting point of the Marangu Route (1,970m), which is located approximately one hour from Moshi. From here you will go on a three hour hike through Montane Forest to Mandara Hut (2,700m), which is situated on the forest belt border just below Maundi Crater. Along the way you’ll witness some of the mountain’s diverse flora and fauna, while enjoying breath-taking views of the magnificent Mt. Kilimanjaro. You will also get the chance to see a variety of colourful birdlife and many species of monkeys including the Black and White Colobus.
