Kayaking in Zaragoza: Fluvial EcoTourism with ebroNAUTAS

Summary

Kayaking is a privileged means of exploring both the Ebro river and the city of Zaragoza. We will provide you with a short briefing at the starting point: You do not need any expertise. Along the descent, our guides will always be available to provide security instructions, touristic & environmental information, and of course some advices to improve your paddling style. We always like to stop half way to stretch our legs, have a swim if anyone wants to, chat about the river and enjoy some summer snacks. In this trip you can enjoy some of the most beautiful views of old town (including the very impressive El Pilar cathedral) and EXPO 2008 site. You will enjoy 9 bridges from very different periods and styles, from very modern and unique "Pavillion Bridge" to the yet unbeatable medieval "Stone Bridge". This descent also includes experiencing the natural values of the Ebro river, which at the first halfo of the trip will make you feel like if you were really fareway from the city... while being actually in it. Birdwatching is, surprisingly, one of the highlights here;-) WhatsApp us for further info about this and other trips.

Why take this tour?

Paddling down the Ebro is always advisable: It is a calmed, imposing river with amazing urban and natural landscapes, crowded with wildlife... but it is sharing this experience with passionated and very well informed local guides what makes it unforgetable. Every beach, island, bridge or riverine building holds a little bit of the history (and the present) of the relationships between Zaragoza and its river. Discovering some of those Heritage and Nature pills will change your perception of the city and the river (and even the cities and the rivers in general, because they all share more than we usually think). Wisely combining this learning opportunity with the fun of splashing, swimming, birdwatching or just relaxedly flowing down the Ebro River has made this kayaking activity to be #1 guided tour in Zaragoza. Reviews from our guests are not only our best publicity, they are also a great resource for our final goal: To bring the Ebro back into riverine people's life & hearts.

About operator:

If you think that there is no way of enjoying a unique landscape in Europe without simultaneously having to share it with crowds around you, you will be gladly surprised to discover the Ebro River in Aragon (NE Spain). From the Castellar cliffs and castle to the Ribera Baja Goosnecks, a dramatic contrast between the arid “bardena” and the fluvial jungle remains barely known by the public, and therefore offers a great chance for those travelers looking for an intimate experience of Nature and its beautiful scenic views. More than 150 miles of mostly calmed waters give you the opportunity of choosing the branch of the Ebro you want to explore on the kayak, both in a half day trip or in a longer journey up to 1 week long. We will always try to share our knowledge and love to this river, the biggest in Spain regarding its average flow, but more importantly an extremely rich environment both regarding its ecological values and its historical heritage. We are happy to practice our English, Français, Italiano and of course Spanish while sharing the wonders hidden in the Ebro, from the amazing bird watching to the breathtaking sunset’s reflections on its waters, as well as all the unique panoramic views only enjoyable from inside the river. Guiding a trip means for us both guaranteeing your security as well as making sure you get the most of the fluvial experience, so we will try to help you understanding the landscape… and even listening to its whispers!-) Feeling tempted? Then you might be interested in Ryan Air flights to Zaragoza from Germany, UK, Italy… and the availability of the rural lodgings in the surroundings of our base in Cabañas de Ebro, at the heart of a pintoresque rural county just 30 minutes away from Zaragoza city. We offer a comprehensive service for groups, so we would receive you at Zaragoza’s Airport and bring you to a genuine experience of the river, its surroundings and its people. If you are lodged in Zaragoza, you might be interested in cruising down its monumental city center: paddling along “The Bridges of Zaragoza” will allow you to enjoy unique sights of its monuments as you have great fun splashing and maybe even swimming in the river!
