Meet up with your private guide in the morning in front of the JR Kamakura station’s east exit. You’ll spend the rest of your visit exploring the ancient Japanese landmarks of this timeless town, a popular day-trip location for visitors from Tokyo.
Head first to Kamakura’s Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, a picturesque religious site situated in the city center. Many locals visit the shrine in order to offer prayers for good fortune. Continue on foot to Komachi Dori, a famous strip that houses an array of Kamakura’s best street food vendors, unique shops, and religious attractions including Kotokuin Temple and Hase Temple.
Proceed from Komachi Dori to Daibutsu (the “Big Buddha”), the second-biggest Buddha monument in Japan and one that dates back to the 13th century. Depending on the time of year and how quickly you proceed through the other attractions, you may also have time for one more stop before ending your trip. At the end of your day you’ll be brought back the JR Kamakura station to proceed to your next destination.
