After pickup from your Tel Aviv hotel, travel to Old Jerusalem, the ancient city that was the backdrop to many key events of Jesus’ life, including his death on the cross.
Along the way, hear about the key Christian sights in and outside the walled city, and if there’s something you want to see more or less of, let your guide know. As the tour is private, the itinerary can be tailored to your interests.
On arrival, enter the Old City through one of the ancient gates, and head first to the Via Dolorosa, also known as the “Way of the Cross” — the route taken by Jesus to his crucifixion. Retrace his steps from the Praetorium, where he was tried and sentenced to death; to Golgotha, the location of his crucifixion, now set within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Head inside this holy church, and gaze at the spot where Jesus was entombed and is believed to have risen from the dead. Then, stop to visit the Church of All Nations, at the foot of the Mount of Olives. Sometimes known as the "Basilica of Agony," this haunting church enshrines a section of rock believed to be where Jesus prayed on the night of his arrest.
Continue to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was arrested on the eve of his crucifixion. See the gnarled olive trees, some of which may have been saplings when he walked here, at the Mount of Olives and conclude the tour at the Last Supper Room, held to stand on the site of the Last Supper, on Mount Zion.
Lastly, return Tel Aviv, where your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.
