Meet your guide, who will be on foot, at your central Moscow hotel, and travel to the outlying Izmaylovo District via the metro (own expense).
On arrival, head for the Izmailovo Kremlin, a cultural center–theme park modeled on a traditional Russian citadel (kremlin) with recreations of palaces, a church, and a marketplace alongside shops, restaurants, and museums. View the fairy tale–like architecture, as your guide explains how it recalls old Russia, and visit the bustling market near the complex. Entrance fees are at your own expense.
Peruse the stalls selling Russian handicrafts, art, curios, and culinary goodies, and purchase souvenirs with bargaining tips from your guide. Plus, visit any of the six museums that capture your interest. Perhaps roam the Vodka History Museum or Bread Museum, and learn about Russia’s cultural heritage as you explore.
