Description
  • Discover the fascinating and complex history of Niagara Falls and its story of hydroelectric innovation. Visit the Skylon Tower with pre-reserved access, with your guide unraveling the story of Nikola Tesla and how he used water to change the world. You'll also visit the new Daredevil exhibit (opened in 2025) and see the real barrels used to challenge the Falls. End your tour at the Niagara Parks Power Station and the Tailrace Tunnel, diving 180 ft in a glass elevator for a walk through historic tunnels and a once-in-a-lifetime view.
  •  Your journey into the history of hydropower begins at the Skylon Tower where you’ll meet your expert guide and look out over the Niagara Parks Power Station as well as the International Control Dam. Take a glass elevator to the top, where you’ll have time to enjoy the stunning view. Before exiting Skylon Tower, you'll check out the new Daredevil Exhibit (opened in 2025) to learn about these brave characters and see the real barrels they used to confront the Falls. From there, walk on to view the Illumination Tower where the Falls are lit up in a wondrous light show each night.
  • Although man has recognized the power of electricity since Ancient Greece, it wasn’t until the 19th century that things started to really heat up! New discoveries and figures battled for supremacy in what has come to be known as the ‘War of the Currents’. Your guide will introduce you to key figures in this battle including Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. You’ll see Tesla’s memorial statue as you learn about how Niagara Falls was the ultimate decider in this struggle for supremacy.
  • When we get to Horseshoe Falls – the largest section of the three waterfalls that together form Niagara Falls – you'll spend some time at the majestic viewpoint, and see for yourself exactly why Tesla and others were inspired to harness the power of the rapidly flowing water. Then see how all of this theory plays out in action at the Niagara Parks Power Station. This 115-year-old building was a futuristic wonder when it first opened its doors in 1905. At this point, your guide will say goodbye and hand out audio guides so you can explore the Power Station and Tailrace Tunnel at your own pace. What you see from the top of the power station is just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll descend 180 feet through the inner workings of the power station, then walk the path the water flowed through the Tailrace Tunnel to a one-of-a-kind view from the base of Niagara Falls.

Description
  • Discover the fascinating and complex history of Niagara Falls and its story of hydroelectric innovation. Visit the Skylon Tower with pre-reserved access, with your guide unraveling the story of Nikola Tesla and how he used water to change the world.
Take a glass elevator to the top, where you’ll have time to enjoy the stunning view before walking on to view the Illumination Tower where the Falls are lit up in a wondrous light show each night.
  •
  • Although man has recognized the power of electricity since Ancient Greece, it wasn’t until the 19th century that things started to really heat up! New discoveries and figures battled for supremacy in what has come to be known as the ‘War of the Currents’. Your guide will introduce you to key figures in this battle including Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. You’ll see Tesla’s memorial statue as you learn about how Niagara Falls was the ultimate decider in this struggle for supremacy.
  •
  • When we get to Horsehoe Falls – the largest section of the three waterfalls that together form Niagara Falls – you'll spend some time at the majestic viewpoint, and see for yourself exactly why Tesla and others were inspired to harness the power of the rapidly flowing water.

  • Discover the fascinating and complex history of Niagara Falls and its story of hydroelectric innovation. Visit the Skylon Tower and Niagara Parks Power Station with pre-reserved access, with your guide unraveling the story of Nikola Tesla and how he used water to change the world. End your tour at Niagara's newest and most exciting experience, the Tailrace Tunnel, diving 180 ft in a glass elevator for a walk through historic tunnels and a once-in-a-lifetime view.
  • Your journey into the history of hydropower begins at the Skylon Tower where you’ll meet your expert guide and look out over the Niagara Parks Power Station as well as the International Control Dam. The Dam controls the flow of the water and diverts it into the power stations to drop 180 feet and rush through a 2000 ft tunnel into the lower Niagara River to empty at the base of the Horseshoe Falls. You’ll have time to enjoy the view before going to the Illumination Tower where the Falls are lit up in a wondrous light show each night.
  •
  • When we get to Horsehoe Falls – the largest section of the three waterfalls that together form Niagara Falls – you'll see for yourself exactly why Tesla and others were inspired to harness the power of the rapidly flowing water. Then see how all of this theory plays out in action at the Niagara Parks Power Station. This 115-year-old building was a futuristic wonder when it first opened its doors in 1905. As you go inside, you’ll journey into the past, seeing some of the original machinery that was used in the Station and even get the opportunity to try it out for yourself.
  • Your group will end the tour by taking a glass elevator for a deep dive to an extra special site. What you see from the top of the power station is just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll descend 180 feet through the inner workings of the power station, then walk the path the water flowed through the Tailrace Tunnel to a one-of-a-kind view from the base of Niagara Falls. Be one of the first to experience this thrilling journey when it opens on July 1st 2022.

Short Description
  • Truly understanding the dynamic relationship between the history of electricity and Niagara Falls can be a challenge. Where to even begin? With pre-reserved access to the Skylon Tower and Niagara Parks Power Station, this tour will bring history to life before your eyes. Journey through the fascinating story of how Nikola Tesla used water to change the world, as told by an expert guide.
  •
  • Start by visiting the impressive Skylon Tower with pre-booked access,  and take in sweeping views of Niagara Falls and Niagara River Gorge. As you admire these breathtaking sights on the sky deck, your expert guide will point out important locations in Niagara's history. These include the Niagara Parks Power Station and the International Control Dam, which controls the flow of the river into the power plant, descending 180 feet, and then rushing down into the lower Niagara River through a 2000-foot tunnel.
  •
  • A stop at Queen Victoria Place is next offering up wondrous views of the Falls. You'll see the Illumination Tower which transforms the rushing water into a glittering colorful lightshow each night. Next, you’ll reach the famous statue of none other than Nikola Tesla, and this is where the riveting story of innovation and the history of hydroelectricity begins! Learn about the ‘War of the Currents’, which saw Telsa and Edison battle over AC & DC currents, and how Niagara Falls was the ultimate decider of the outcome. You’ll come away with a unique insight into the ways human innovation has harnessed the raw power of nature.
  •
  • The best is saved for last and your journey into this riveting history concludes at the place it all began: the Niagara Parks Power Station. Here you’ll see how Tesla’s ideas were put into action. With pre-reserved tickets to the site, you can explore the 115-year-old power station including interactive displays and hands-on training exercises with the original machinery. As well as sights from the past, your guide will give you an understanding of how the world is looking forward to the future of hydroelectric power and the use of other clean energy sources.
  •
  • You’ll come away from this tour with unrivaled insight into the history of Niagara Falls, electricity, and water power, as well as visiting the most important and interesting locations from the story.
