The Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park was declared a World Heritage Site since large quantities here are protected watershed, flora and fauna.
We invite you to visit this natural heritage of humanity and be part of the future history of this place called Earth, During the hiking to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano we will observe fumaroles, mud volcanoes, boiling water springs, wildlife, moist forest, volcanic reservoirs at the base of the Rincón de La Vieja volcano.
We will go to Las Pailas trail is a 3 km (2 miles) loop that passes through thick rainforest and some open fields. The first part of the trail is also very scenic, the trail leads to one of the most impressive features of the park: steam vents, also called fumaroles. These basically look like big holes in the ground that constantly billow steam, while making strange gurgling sounds and giving off a stinky sulfur smell.
