Our ritual will begin with the women preparing the henna in the traditional way, by crushing and mixing the dye, while you learn about its history, origins and symbolism, when it is worn and its significance in Sahara life.
Used mainly to decorate feet and hands with motifs and designs ranging from delicate and intricate, to bold and strong. Motifs include flowers, swirls and symbols. You will try the technique and create your own design before the local women decorate you with henna.
