Your airboat adventure starts at the tour office in Homosassa, where you'll meet your USCG captain and eco-tour guide and hop on the boat. Then take off, looking for dolphins, birds, and fish as you ride, slide, and glide effortlessly across the water. Airboats are able to access areas that bigger, deeper boats can't, giving you more perspective of this Florida environment.
Explore backwater salt marshes and estuaries; pass by the historical Indian Mounds; and cruise into the clear, shallow waters of the gulf, dotted with islands. This is a speed tour, so hold on and enjoy the twisting, turning tour through marshes and canals.
Select your preferred departure time when booking; morning is the best time to spot wildlife. Birds are common, and there are often dolphin sightings; if you're really lucky, you may even spot an alligator.
Note: It is recommended that you bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and sunglasses. In the cooler months, dress accordingly in pants, a jacket, and maybe even a small blanket to keep you warm. Bottled water and headgear for ear protection are provided (airboats are loud). Hats are not recommended, as they may fly off your head.
