Discovered in 1952, the Cave itself sits 200ft (70 m) below the Burren limestone landscape. Equipped with a hard hat and in the hands of an experienced and knowledgeable guide, you’ll take the journey through an intricate system of passages and pathways, learning as you go how the Cave was formed. It’s an awe-inspiring experience – and you’ll immediately feel the excitement and wonder of the Cave’s early explorers and adventurists, way back when. As you complete your descent, prepare for a moment of eerie calm, pitch black and complete silence – giving way to a sudden flood of light within the majestic cathedral-like dome of the Cave. The force of nature that is Europe’s Largest Stalactite takes centre stage: a vast structure reaching down from the roof of the Cave, catching the light, reflecting colours and detail like a massive, ornate glass chandelier. This showstopper is 7.3 metres long and weighs around 10 tonnes. An unforgettable experience.

Very cool plus a stairmaster work out!!

Such a cool experience!! We descended 12 flights into the cave. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He gave us time to take pictures but it was clear he was on a schedule. Climbing back up 12 flights isn't for those with mobility issues but we were pretty much able to take our time climbing out of the cave. Would highly recommend this experience if you are in the area.

Interesting tour

Although brief, this was a very interesting tour. Impressive sights. Great staff. Loved the trail around the premises afterwards.

Guide Made the Visit

We visited Doolin Cave on August 19th, 2026. The parking lot was easy to access and the receptionist was very kind. You do want to make sure that you book the cave tour ahead of time because we observed that there was not enough room for some visitors to fit on a tour. We didn't eat there, but the cafe on site had several healthy food options on the menu that gave us some ideas of new foods to make at home. The tour guideo wos excellent. Kim was very kind and informative, and she handled the group very well. The tour is very manageable, and the stalactite is amazing. Would recommend visiting this location.
