You’ll have 30 minutes to explore and take photos.
Next, fly up to an alpine meadow with sweeping views of Knik Glacier below and Colony and Cataract Glaciers across Lake George. Wildlife sightings are common—moose, Dall sheep, and even bears in summer.
Finally, land on the middle of Knik Glacier at stunning melt pools with vibrant blue ice. Learn about glacier life cycles and why they matter globally. Will everyone in my party be flying in the same helicopter?
Due to weight and balance configuration, we can never guarantee what seat or how many helicopters it may take to fly groups of 2 or more guests until check in. If you are in separate helicopters you WILL be landing and taking off together and experiencing the tour together. You are able to purchase a Private Flight to guarantee being in the same helicopter as long as weights allow.
Can I book a cabin at Alaska Glacier Lodge since this is our departure location?
Absolutely! Call our reservations department for information about our Lodge accommodations and availability or visit our website www.akglacierlodge.com for more information 907-759-5006 **May 15 - September 15
Is it cold on the glacier?
Generally it is between 10 and 15 degrees colder on the glacier and the high altitude landing. The weather can be unpredictable at the high altitude landing so we recommend being prepared for all weather types.
How much should we tip our pilot/guides?
We typically see guests tipping 5 - 10% to pilots/guides. Gratuity is not mandatory but is greatly appreciated!
Combine a helicopter flight, dogsled tour, and guided glacier walk for a multi-activity excursion you’re unlikely to experience elsewhere. Let someone else deal with the logistics while you enjoy aerial views of the glacier, before exploring its crevasses and melt pools. Plus, spend time with Alaskan sled dogs, for an experience few travelers get to enjoy.
