Why take this tour?
Þingvellir National Park
Þingvellir is a place of profound significance for Icelanders. It’s the birthplace of Alþingi, the world’s oldest Parliament, founded in 930. It is also one of the few places on Earth where you can walk between tectonic plates as you explore the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which rises above ground here.
Wander through the Almannagjá tectonic rift, pass by the site of the original parliament, marvel at the beauty of Öxaráfoss waterfall, and take in the scenic views around Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake. Fans of Game of Thrones may recognize some iconic scenes shot here. Þingvellir is also where Icelanders officially converted to Christianity in the year 1000, adding to its historical resonance. In 2004, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, cementing its importance to Iceland and the world.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most captivating waterfalls, cascades in three steps into a canyon 64 meters deep. The angle of the canyon and the constant spray can make it seem as if Gullfoss plunges into an abyss. In the early 20th century, plans were made to harness Gullfoss’s power, but thanks to the persistence of the landowner’s daughter, Sólveig Tómasdóttir, this natural treasure was preserved. Geysir Geothermal Area
In the Geysir geothermal area, you’ll find bubbling hot springs and erupting geysers. While the original Geysir is mostly dormant, its active brother, Strokkur, erupts every few minutes, reaching up to 30 meters (98 feet) in height.
Kerið Crater Lake
This beautiful crater lake in Iceland's Western Volcanic Zone features vibrant red volcanic sand due to its high iron content, creating a striking contrast against the blue lake water. The crater is approximately 55 meters deep, and the scenic views make it a memorable stop on the tour. Laugarvatn Fontana
A fixed stop on our tour, Laugarvatn Fontana offers you a relaxing geothermal spa experience by Lake Laugarvatn. The outdoor mineral baths, with their varying depths, sizes, and temperatures, provide both recreation and relaxation. Locals have enjoyed these natural steam baths since 1929.
Choose between soaking in the connected outdoor pools, feeling the natural heat of the steam rooms, or taking a refreshing dip in the lake itself. Each steam room draws heat directly from the geothermal spring below, creating an authentic Icelandic wellness experience.
Optional Activity
Friðheimar Tomato Farm
Experience a unique meal in the greenhouse setting of Friðheimar, where tomatoes grow year-round despite Iceland's long winters. Enjoy fresh tomato soup, bread, and other delights surrounded by thriving plants. Additional Stops For those who wish to extend the tour, additional stops can be added for a fee. Options include glacier hikes, snowmobiling, and a visit to the Blue Lagoon. Extra charges will apply for each hour added beyond the standard tour duration.
Note: The entrance fee for the fontana baths & bakery is already included in the price.
