Golden Circle Day Trip with Kerid Volcanic Crater from Reykjavik

Summary Description

After pickup from your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port, settle into your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with a guide and travel into Iceland’s countryside to see the Golden Circle sights.

First up is the near-neon blue Kerid crater lake. Continue to Gullfoss, whose name means 'Golden Falls,’ and take in this stunning, tiered waterfall as it plunges 105 feet (32 meters) into the Hvita River. From there, travel to Geysir geothermal area, an expanse of bubbling pools, vents, and geysers. Explore here and see the most active hot spring, Strokkur, steaming water 98 feet (30 meters) into the air every eight minutes.

From here, visit the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, home to a rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Learn how the plates are slowly moving apart, and see their exposed ridges.

After this final stop, travel back to Reykjavik where your tour concludes at the original departure point.
