Glacier Hike and Kayaking Combination

Summary

You will have the opportunity to take plenty of photos, learn how to inflate and paddle a packraft, walk in crampons on glacier ice, learn how the ice is made and eat your picnic lunch on the glacier. After exploring the glacier you will be guided back across the lake to complete a loop right back to the parking lot where you began the tour. The kayak that you will use is an inflatable boat called a packraft, a lightweight, one-person boat that is small enough to fit in a backpack. All users wear a provided dry suit and personal flotation device (PFD) for safety. At the beginning of the tour you will be issued with your drysuit, packraft, paddle and PFD in a backpack which you will need to carry to and from the glacier lake. All of this equipment is very portable and weighs less than 10kg. The walk to the lake is 2km long and takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Please note! Drysuits must be worn on this tour and we have a limited size range available. We can accommodate for people with a height range between 150cm (5 ft) and 198cm tall (6’6 ft). Drysuits available: M, L, XL and XXL please check the size chart in the gallery ensure that you fit into a drysuit.

Why take this tour?

The ultimate adventure! Hike to a glacier lagoon, paddle across the glacier lake and hike up onto the glacier ice! You will be led on a scenic trail to a glacier lagoon where you will have the opportunity to paddle in your own single person boat as you are guided across the lake to the front of the glacier, where you will continue to hike up and onto the ice! The Glacier Hike and Kayaking combination is our most adventurous and rewarding tour. It is also rather challenging as it is 7 hours long and is recommended for people that exercise on a relatively regular basis and have no major pre existing medical conditions. This tour is a true wilderness style experience and one that we love to guide! You will also have the opportunity to try ice climbing on this adventure if you would like to make this outstanding adventure even more adventurous!
