This truly unique visitor experience captures the story of how Foynes became one of the great aviation hubs of the world between 1937-1945. Walk in the footsteps of JF Kennedy, Bob Hope, Eleanor Roosevelt & many other dignitaries, movie stars & refugees who landed at Foynes. Experience Irish Coffee in the very building it was invented, and taste the original recipe in a quaint 1940’s setting (O'Regan's Restaurant - Irish Coffees sold seperately). Visit the new Maureen O’Hara exhibition dedicated to preserving the memory of Ireland’s most famous film star & explore the rich history of the River Shannon. Explore our new museum building which launched in 2023!

Excellent Museum

What an excellent museum - staff were amazing. There is so much to see and learn about the flying boats. Who knew Maureen O’Hara played such a big part in this museum? Really interesting exhibits. You can even go on a reconstructed flying boat. We spent about hour and a half going round. The attached cafe also served good food - staff were delightful. Well worth a visit

Interesting and enjoyable visit

A brilliant and informative museum, detailing a very interesting part of aviation history, with a fantastic recreation of the flying boat you are able to go inside! We also enjoyed the Maureen O'Hara exhibit. Very friendly staff and delicious Irish coffee!

Wonderful museum and one more item off the bucket list.

I have been meaning to visit for years. The museum is well laid out and is a wonderful experience. A trip down memory lane for anyone interested in that period of history. Just slightly disappointed that the simulators didn't appear to be working but that didn't detract from our overall enjoyment and I have just purchased the relevant addon for Microsoft Flight Simulator so that I can try to fly the Yankee Clipper on my home setup.

Imersive experience

Great museum. An overlooked chapter of aviation history. Great displays and memorabilia. The star of experience was the full scale plane.Being allowed to board the exhibit was unique and gave a true perspective.

We visited the museum, our favourite part was the movie theatre on site and the real life replica of the Boeing 314.

We had a fantastic visit to the Foynes Flying Boat Museum. The staff in both the museum and the restaurant were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The museum offers a unique and fascinating experience, with plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages. It’s an engaging attraction that combines history, interactive exhibits, and great hospitality. Highly recommended!
