Summary

Before the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey was a key player in World War I. On this tour, you’ll revisit one of the conflict’s most formidable campaigns. After pickup from your Canakkale hotel, board a ferry for a scenic ride across the narrowest section of the Dardanelles, once the site of an epic bombardment by French and British forces. After an included restaurant lunch, board an air-conditioned minivan to visit the Brighton Beach, a WWI landing place, where you’re welcome to take a dip in the water. Hear multiple perspectives on the legendary battle as you tour Turkish trenches and learn about heavy losses on both sides. You’ll also visit Beach Cemetery, which once sheltered 30,000 troops, and Lone Pine Australian Memorial, where Turkish strongholds were overpowered by Australians.
