Begin with pickup from your Hurghada hotel, then make the roughly 4-hour trip to Luxor in an air-conditioned vehicle. Start on the East Bank of the Nile, where you’ll explore the sprawling temple complex at Karnak. Follow the imposing Avenue of Sphinxes into the temple area, which dates back to Egypt’s Middle Kingdom. See the massive columns of the Hypostyle Hall, then see the sacred lake, and temples adorned with intricate designs of lotus, papyrus, and ancient gods.
Cross the river to see the Necropolis of Thebes, where the graves of Egyptian kings and queens have revealed treasure troves and antiquities. Visit three tombs from three separate dynasties, then continue to the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III to see a series of beautiful reliefs depicting battles with the ‘Sea Peoples.’ Stand at the base of the Colossi of Memnon, the two largest ancient statues in Egypt, which date back to the rule of King Amenhotep III.
At each site, you’ll learn about the history and highlights of the monument from your guide, then have free time to explore and take photos at your own pace. After visiting the sites on the East and West Banks, make the return trip to Hurghada. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
