Begin your tour on your terms with a flexible departure time from your hotel in Medellín. Take a short drive to Pueblito Paisa, a traditional Colombian village within the city. Tour the village with a guide and then use free time to shop for souvenirs at street markets, sample local snacks (own expense), and take in a panoramic view of the Medellín Valley. Rejoin your guide to travel downtown and get a dose of urban culture, touring the Zen-inspired Barefoot Park, the Park of Lights, and Fernando Botero Plaza, home to 23 massive bronze statues by a local artist. After exploring the parks, head to a soccer stadium covered with murals and graffiti and admire the larger-than-life paintings on the walls of this massive sports complex. Once you’ve taken in the view, climb on board an aerial tram and glide above colorful rooftops en route to the neighborhood of San Javier. Upon arrival, tour the neighborhood on foot with your guide and get a close look at the artwork, learning the stories behind striking pieces as you go. Your final stop is at the largest outdoor escalators in the Americas, which connect the hillside neighborhood to the city center below. Take in sprawling views of Medellín as you ride the escalators down the hill and learn how the surrounding murals tell the story of the neighborhood. At any point during the tour, let your guide know that you feel hungry and stop for lunch or dinner at a local restaurant. You can also ask your guide for snacks at any time! When your tour is complete, transfer back to your hotel or request to be dropped off anywhere else in Medellín.
