After an early-morning pickup from your Hanoi hotel, admire the Red River Delta scenery on the drive to Halong Bay. Then, board your boat—a traditional wooden junk—in Halong Bay. Keep your camera on hand as you set sail across the bay for endless photo opportunities. Listen as your guide points out notable landmarks, all with unique names, such as Fighting Cocks Island, Finger Island, Duck Island, and Incense Burner Island, and glide through Thien Cung Cave (Heavenly Palace Grotto), filled with majestic stalactites and stalagmites. Transfer to a small bamboo boat or sea kayak to get a closer look at the caves and islands, and enjoy a quiet paddle around one of the bay’s most scenic spots.
