Forge your own survival knife in the heart of Brooklyn during this hands-on workshop at Craftsman Ave. For just $275 per person, immerse yourself in a 4-hour experience—no prior knifesmithing expertise needed! Under the guidance of expert instructors, you’ll transform a simple piece of rebar into a practical and fully functional utility knife, uniquely crafted by you. Heat steel to red-hot in a propane forge, then hammer, shape, and refine your blade with classic tools like the anvil and grinder. Feel the thrill of quenching your knife in oil—the same dramatic process seen on “Forged in Fire”—making for an unforgettable photo op. Enjoy a break with local pizza and refreshments in the cozy lounge, then finish your masterpiece by wrapping the handle and sharpening the edge. Cancellation policy

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the activity starts

Cancellations or rescheduling requests 1 week or more prior to start of a workshop can receive a full refund or full credit towards a future workshop. Cancellations or rescheduling requests between a week and two days prior to start of a workshop will receive a credit of 50% towards a future workshop. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within two days prior to start of a workshop will not receive any refund or credit. All cancellation/rescheduling requests should be sent directly to hello@craftsmanave.com.

Love this place! Will likely be back! I have a rare disability (hEDS) that causes my wrists and finger joints to be hypermobile (too bendy; not very stable), and both my main instructor Sasha and the other instructor who came to visit about halfway through the class (I unfortunately forget her name) were extremely kind and encouraging. Really a nice experience!!! Lovely people, high-quality facilities, thoughtful instruction, and a really cool finished product/project that I love! 💕

Stained Glass Nightlight Group Class exceeded expectations! Sacha is insanely talented and is a great instructor. I loved that you actually learn how to make a stained glass piece yourself. I left with a greater appreciation for stained glass art and love that I made something I will actually use.
