Fish Auction Tour and Sushi Workshop in Sakata City

Wake up bright and early and visit the Sakata Fish Market where you will get special access into the auction floor where you can see where the chefs of Japan acquire some of the finest quality of fish caught right off the coast of Yamagata Prefecture.

Here you will be able to buy your own fish directly from the wholesale market with your guide and speak with the fishermen to learn about how they pull in such large bounties of highly prized fish.

We will then take the fish we purchase into the downtown Sakata area where we will visit one of its many famous sushi restaurants and learn to prepare the fish we bought into a variety of dazzling sushi dishes alongside the chefs.

Guests who do not wish to take part in the workshop are also welcome to watch the chef for a culinary demonstration experience.

Following this you will enjoy a delicious course of sushi that you made together with the chef in their restaurant.
