Scientists believe that all Icelandic lava caves were created by volcanic eruptions. We at G spot Iceland are not so sure about it taking under consideration early settlers tales. As according to them caves were created by gods and those we will see were created by giant named Surtr.

Cave was fire giant’s home once and with total length of 1970 m is the longest Icelandic lava tube. With its close neighbor Stefánshellir cave, combined length of tunnels reaches 3,5 km. Our unique exploration tour combines both mythological and geological aspects of lava cave genesis.
