After your ferry crossing passing Carbery’s 100 Isles, arrive at Cape Clear Island, spend some free time exploring this Gaeltacht Island, learning about the island’s culture, the islander life, including old traditions and traditional farming. Discover the island’s ancient standing stones, Napoleonic Tower, Dún an Óir Castle , 12th century church and visit the memorial on the Island to the 1979 Fastnet Yacht Race Disaster. See the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse in the distance on one of the walking trials or enjoy lunch at one of the island’s bars and restaurants. After lunch re-board the ferry travelling to see the lighthouse. Catch a glimpse of the magnificent whales and dolphins en route! We circumnavigate ‘An Carraig Aonair` or the ‘Lonely Rock’ taking in its history and culture. Once we have circled the Rock twice, to get the perfect photo, we head for home enjoying the spectacular scenery until we reach our final port.

Unfortunately without a lighthouse!

The trips to the lighthouse do not take place daily; it looks different in the app. Even if the weather is right, the next tour would have been on Sunday instead of Thursday anyway. The island is worth it on its own, though. Booking in advance would not be necessary in September.

Tour canceled without notice

The tour was canceled the day before due to bad weather but no one notified us, so we found out when we arrived on site. We immediately contacted the operator for a ticket refund, which arrived within a few minutes, but we had to take action ourselves; there was no automatic refund even though the tour cancellation had been decided the day before.

Fantastic trip

I can highly recommend this trip, everyone from the captian of the boat, crew and staff on the ground were so informative, helpful and pleasant. The lighthouse is amazing to see and seeing wildlife along the way was an added bonus. Thank you to all

Rip off

Marketed as a whale-watching, wildlife tour, it is in fact simply three ferry trips which can be purchased direct from the same ferry company (Cap Clear Ferries) for £82 instead of the £132 I paid to Viator. To be clear - I paid 60% more for exactly the same experience. No commentary, no guidance, no experts. Viator and the middle-man operator refused to make any refund of the difference. Cynical scam.
