False Cape E-Bike Adventure/History Ride

Mike will guide our group on the 21-mile ELECTRIC BIKE ride starting from the Little Island parking lot. Pedego pedal-assist empowers you to go farther and faster, so you can see more in less time – all in comfort and style. And it’s fun!

We will visit Washwoods Cemetery, the False Cape Gift Shop, Barbor Hill Bayside, and the meadow at False Cape Landing for short narratives on the history of each.

There were cowboys and cattle down there in the early 20th century, plus a few primitive casinos. The Washwoods Settlement was founded by shipwrecked people whose pilots thought they were rounding Cape Henry and headed west, hence the name False Cape.
