This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Georgian cuisine reflects the country’s geographical position, with tastes and influences from its neighbors and distinct regions within the country. Katy and Acho will introduce you to a variety of Georgian dishes that include different meats and fresh breads cooked in a clay oven, robustly flavored with herbs, nuts and fruits like tarragon, coriander, sour plums and walnuts.
Your menu might include khachapuri (dough stuffed with Georgian cheese), khinkali (meat dumplings with Georgian spices), shkmeruli (chicken in garlic sauce), eggplants in walnut sauce, tkemali (local sour plum sauce) and a variety of Georgian salads. For dessert, they might serve the traditional churchkhela made from walnuts or hazelnuts, covered in candied grape juice, along with homemade lemonade, tea or coffee.
