Experience Shanghai: Dumpling Cooking Class and Tasting Tour

Highlights

  • Learn how to make Cantonese dim sum dumplings from a professional chef

  • Discover the French Concession on a culinary walking tour

  • Tour and class are limited to 10 people for a more intimate atmosphere

Summary

Meet your guide and small group in central Shanghai and stroll the former French Concession, a charming colonial-era area. Taste up a storm as you discover the city’s myriad dumpling styles. Savor up to eight samples, including jiaozi (favored in northern China), hun tun (wontons), guotie (pan-fried dumplings), and, of course, Shanghai’s favorite xiaolongbao (soup-filled dumplings). After learning about the meaning of food in Shanghai, it’s time for a cooking class. A professional chef will show you how to make har gow, a Cantonese dim sum favorite with delicate wrappers stuffed with juicy shrimp. Then make your own and eat your fill before you say farewell. Your guide can direct you to the subway or help you find a taxi.
