Fireflies are lighting bugs and found in mangrove swamps. Kuala Selangor a fishing village has the largest colony of fireflies in the world. The fascinating fact about them is their synchronous flash is produced by a biochemical reaction in their light organs situated on their bottoms. The males direct the lights at the females who are gallivanting for fun. It is actually a mating ritual. Of course the boat ride is exhilarating. Silence to prevail. Please do not use flash lights or disturb them. Bukit Melawati hills houses an old lighthouse, Royal graves of 3 sultans, and the abode of the silvered leaf monkeys. Photo shoots. ITINERARY
0700hrs Depart for Kuala Tahan, Taman Negara, enroute FREE BATU CAVES TOUR
# BATU CAVES is a limestone outcrop. The 272 steps climb into the Cave will take you to the Temple of Hindu Deity Lord Subramaniam aka Lord Murugan. He is honoured during the Hndu Festival of THAIPUSAM in January or February every year. His 140 feet Statue is mesmerising.
(Decent attire is Mandatory for Ladies to enter the Temple proper).
1100hrs On arrival at Kuala Tahan, activities begin...
% Canopy Walkway - 530 meters in length is the longest in South East Asia and you will get a Bird's Eye View of the World's Oldest Rainfoest. View a screaming scenery of Nature at its unspoilt best..
% Jungle Trekking to the Teresek Hills.
Trekking takes you closer to the different species of Flora and the Nature Guide will belt facts and fancies about Flora and Fauna in Taman Negara. He will uncover the secrets of the Forest. Packed lunch in the Forest.
% You may be Lucky if you get to see Monkeys, Bids, Monitor Lizards...
BUT if you see a Tiger or an Elephant, we ain't sure who is lucky !
% Rapids Shooting is a thrill as the Boatman negotiates 7 sets of Rapids and you get a "chance" to get wet. Bring along changing clothes, insect repellants.
% Aborigine Village (Orang Asli) are of the Bateek tribe who have been living environment-friendly lives. The Rainforest is their Supermarket where they get their life's necessities. They have things secret and things taboo. You will get an insight of their fire making skills and blowpipe hunting techniques.
1700hrs Back to Floating Cafe, freshen up and return transfer to Kuala Lumpur arriving approx. 2000hrs. End of Tour.
