    Our free walking tours take about 2.5 hours. First, you’ll explore the Eigelstein area, its gangster stories and why the habits of former guest-workers shaped a whole district that truly represents Cologne’s open-mindedness. A walk by the narrowest house in town leads you to a church with a golden chamber, where you’ll learn more about the martyr Ursula, the basilica minor and what virgins and bones have to do with our coat of arms.

    Discover ancient roman ruins and our connections to American presidents before we tell you a love story without a happy ending in front of the statue of Cavalry General Jan von Werth. Somewhat hidden in the old town, “TĂŒnnes und SchĂ€l” will teach you about the two hearts beating in the chest of every Cologne resident.       When does the tour start and how long does it take?

      The Classic Cologne free tour starts at 12:11 every Saturday and Sunday and it takes around 2,5 hours to reach the final stop. The Dark Side of the Dom free tour starts on selected Saturdays (check our website for more info) at 19:00 from May to October and at 18:00 from November to April. It takes around 2 hours to reach the end.

      The Classic Cologne free tour starts underneath the Eigelstein-Torburg, one of the remaining medieval gates of the city and finishes in the city centre at the Ostermannplatz. The Dark Side of the Dom free tour starts at Heumarkt, neat the statue of Friedrich Wilhelm III and finishes at the Tipsgasse, next to the brewery SĂŒnner im Walfisch.

      At the moment, we only offer the Classic Cologne free tour in English and German, but you also have the chance to book it as a private tour in Spanish. We offer the Dark Side of the Dom free tour in German at the moment, with the possibility of booking it as a private tour in English.

      What if I’m running late? How will I recognize the guide?

      We like to start our tours in time, but we usually wait until every booking guest reaches the meeting point. Therefore, we ask our guests to be punctual, as we usually leave the meeting point around 10 minutes after the starting time. Nonetheless, if for whatever reason, you’re running late or cannot find the starting point, please contact us. The guide will be that friendly person standing at the meeting point, who’s wearing a shirt or a bag with a chameleon and who’ll happily welcome you to the city.
