Meet at a designated meeting point (to be provided after booking) at 08:15 am and travel through Route No 68 to the town of Coronel Moldes heading to Juramento River Canyon. The whole journey is a two hour drive from Salta City.
The guides will be waiting for you at the base camp where your adventure begins. Before setting off, a brief safety briefing will take place to ensure a fun time for everyone on the river. Then, suit up with the provided equipment and start the journey down the Juramento River rapids at 10:30 am. During your ride, you'll have to navigate 10 different Class III rapids, in addition to five slightly-easier Class II rapids, all of them framed by the stunning scenery of the canyon, which looks like a giant open pit in the mountains. The canyon walls are 65 million years old, and used to be huge beaches inhabited by pre-historic animals. The rafting adventures ends two hours later at Paraje Los Lapachos.
When you finish the ride return to the base by car, where a delicious traditional "asado" will be waiting. The meal includes sausages, meat and several types of salad. Drinks are also included (water and juice). After lunch, you will be given some free time before returning to Salta.
