STRAAT Museum: the museum for street art and graffiti
To visit this museum, you have to go to Amsterdam's creative epicentre, on the north side of the IJ River on the former NDSM wharf. This is home to the world's largest street art museum, featuring only art made on location. You won't find much comfort in the 8,000-square-metre old warehouse; the building is as rough and radical as the art on display.
Although the art is made on location and specifically for the museum, it is as big as other street art scattered around the city. There is art by local artists as well as international greats. The biggest difference between the street art at the STRAAT Museum and on the street is the context the museum gives you.
Enjoy the views on a canal cruise
A canal cruise through Amsterdam is a perfect complement to a visit to the impressive STRAAT Museum. During the boat trip, you will be introduced to the capital's beautiful canal belt. Not for nothing is the canal belt on the UNESCO World Heritage List and Amsterdam carries the nickname 'Venice of the North'. So we can rightly call this an iconic experience in Amsterdam.
During the canal cruise through Amsterdam, you will pass through the Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and Herengracht, among other canals. While you enjoy the view, tune the audio guide into your preferred language. You can choose from as many as 19 languages. This way, you will learn all about the rich history of Amsterdam's canals during a canal cruise.
