After pickup from your hotel in the Chiang Mai region, transfer with your group of 10 or fewer to the paddle board shop. Bring your swimming gear, a set of dry clothes, and if possible, water shoes.
At the shop, get instructions on paddle boarding, or if you prefer, choose to travel the river by kayak instead. Then, make the 1-hour journey northward to the beautiful Mae Ngat valley.
On arrival, get a safety briefing and collect your equipment, including a life vest and helmet. Then, set off behind your guide along the Mae Ping River, whose calm waters, subject to some seasonal variations, are perfect for boarding or kayaking.
The river winds through the wildlife-rich and lushly green Mae Taeng Forest Reserve, and its smooth and slow-moving waters allow for easy maneuvering, making it perfect for beginners.
Watch for wildlife on route, and get tips from your guide on navigating the easy Class 1-currents and refining your paddling techniques. If you and the river conditions require, you can also choose to sit or kneel on your board.
When it’s time, come ashore and refuel with lunch at a rustic plantation resort before your trip concludes with a hotel drop-off.
Please note: the supplied paddle boards are suitable for beginners weighing up to 220lbs (100kgs). Size 40-45 water shoes can be provided.
