We'll provide you with a bike and an itinerary.
Although this itinerary has been designed with the gravel bike rider in mind, it can be fully enjoyed riding a hybrid, or an e-bike. It can be done any day between March and November.
The tour starts from and ends in Gaillard where our office is located. The full loop from
Gaillard is 45km long with 660 meters of climbing. It can be shortened and done over a morning, or an afternoon, or it can be made into a full-day tour.
From our office, we’ll ride along the river Arve across the border into Switzerland. From there, using a mix of trails, secondary roads, and unpaved sections, we’ll ride through villages and vineyards before crossing again the border to France.
From there, we’ll slowly climb the flank of the Salève mountain to enjoy amazing views over Geneva, its lake, and the Jura mountains.
Sections of the Way of Saint James will be used to reach the Chartreuse de Pomier (http://www.chartreuse-de-pomier.fr/en), the highest point of the ride.
The way down through small villages and forested areas is stunningly beautiful.
At a leisurely pace, you can expect the whole loop to be done in 5 hours.
