Le Ravin de Fond Ferdinand covers an area of 150ha, with altitude range of 10 - 300m, is managed and protected by Seychelles government.
It was the first area on Praslin to be bought as a Coco de Mer reserve in 1894, boasting an outstanding scenic beauty that oversees five surrounding islands, including Mahé and La Digue. It also incorporates a safe stone-built trail throughout the Reserve which extends to a distance of more than 2km.
The rich biodiversity includes all six endemic palm and rare endemic flora species such as Gastonia, Diospiros Seychellarum, Aphloia seychellarum. Fauna species amongst others includes the Seychelles Black parrot and Seychelles kestrel.
