Don't miss the unique opportunity to go snorkeling among geothermal hot springs! This is generally impossible due to the high temperatures present in such locations around the world. But the Kleifarvatn lake offers the chance to swim safely among the geothermal bubbles. We will meet at the Seltún Geothermal Area and drive together from there to the lake, due to the possibly rough road conditions. We will drive as close to the lake as possible, but we will still have to leave our car and hike about 800 meters to get to the beach.
After gearing up and getting a detailed briefing about the activity, we will start our adventure. Although the hot springs are located about 50 meters from the shore, you will see the geothermal sediments as soon as you enter the water. It is a unique underwater landscape. As we approach the springs, you will start feeling the environment around you changing - this experience has often been described as swimming in a glass of champagne. After the tour, we will warm up with hot chocolate and cookies and then visit the fascinating Seltún Geothermal Area, where we will walk around boiling mud pots.
This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants to run.
