Private Sightseeing Excursion through the Alsace region
This highly recommended full day tour has been carefully designed for travelers that wish to get the most out of their stay here in Alsace. The Pearls of Alsace tour combines what we believe are the most essential visits that one must make while in the region. It includes the visits of towns, monuments, small traditional villages and historical landmarks.
In the morning we will come and pick you up at your accommodation in Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé or surrounding area. Meet your English speaking driver/guide who will go over the program and itinerary of the day with you. Then board your air conditioned vehicle and depart for a full day tour that includes the highlights of the Alsace region.
Discover exquisite Colmar
First, make your way to the beautiful town of Colmar. Upon arrival, follow your guide on a walking tour of one of the most beautiful small towns of France. Discover the charm of the old town, its prestigious monuments, the Pfister house, the Koïfhus, Saint Martin collegiate church, and the picturesque neighborhoods of small Venice or of the tanners.
Visit Eguisheim village
Then depart for the most beautiful village of Eguisheim, located on the Alsace wine route. Surrounded by vineyards, the narrow and concentric streets highlight the architectural merits of its half-timbered houses, lovingly decorated with flowers. After a walk in the village your tour then continues on to the beautiful town of Riquewihr.
Visit Kaysersberg and time for lunch
In Kaysersberg the patrimonial treasures are numerous such as the military edifices which are the last remains of a heavy and bloody past in Alsace. In contrast to this, there are the colored half-timbered houses, mixed along with the ancient Roman churches. Free time for personal discovery and lunch.
Enjoy great Panoramic Views along the Alsace Wine Route
Located between the Rhine valley and the Vosges mountain range, the 60 year old route winds across the slopes for more than 170 kms. The itinerary leads across rows of undulating, vine covered hills, and through quaint villages with narrow streets and charming flower decked houses clustered around the local church steeple.
Visit the Mighty Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg
Finally, reach Haut Koenigsbourg castle. Here, follow your excellent guide for a tour of this mighty fortress that overlooks the valley. Built in the 12th century, the Castle occupied a strategic position controlling the wine and wheat routes to the North and the salt route that came from the East. After the visit, return to Riquewihr.
Please note that as this is a private tour, it is possible for your guide to organize a wine tasting session during the day if you would like to taste some of the local Alsace white wines.
