Choose your departure time and when your cruise ship is docked in Helsinki, meet your guide outside the main gate of the cruise port.
After introductions, begin your private tour as your guide sheds light on the history and culture of Finland’s elegant capital. Catch a tram or cab (a 1-hour tram ticket is included) to the center, and if there are any sights you want to see more or less of, let your guide know. As your tour is private, the itinerary is flexible and can be tailored to suit your interests.
On arrival in the center, set off on foot to explore the handsome streets and cobbled lanes. Soak in the lively atmosphere on route, and stop at must-sees such as Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, City Hall, Opera House, and Uspenski Cathedral. Take in each landmark and hear the fascinating stories behind each from your guide.
Continue to one of Helsinki’s showpiece sights: the underground Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church), built in the late 1960s. Head inside to admire this unusual circular church, taking in its rock walls and round roof of copper wire as you learn how the building was hollowed out of solid granite.
See Helsinki Cathedral, and take a stroll around harborfront Market Square, home to a colorful collection of food and handicraft stalls.
Your tour then finishes here when your guide says goodbye. If you wish, catch a tram or cab (both at own expense) back to the cruise port straight away, or choose to stay on to shop at the market before making your own way back.
