Begin with pickup at your hotel in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, or Netanya, then travel up the coast through rural farmland on your way to Magdala, where archeologists have excavated the remains of an ancient fishing village from the time of Christ. Learn about the Second Temple-era synagogue discovered here, and why some believe that Jesus may have preached in present-day Magdala during his ministry.
Continue up the Sea of Galilee to Ginosar, and visit the Beit Yigal Allon Museum to see a 1st-century fishing boat that dates back to 100BC–70AD, a time period that coincides with Jesus’ lifetime. Drive north to the Mount of Beatitudes, which the apostles Matthew and Luke describes as the site of the Sermon on the Mount. See the Catholic chapel on top of the mountain, and enjoy panoramic views down to the Sea of Galilee.
Make the final stop of the day at Kfar Kanna, or Cana, the site of Jesus’ first Biblical miracle, when he turned water into wine at a wedding. Visit the Wedding Church that commemorates the Biblical event, and take in a 5th–6th century Byzantine mosaic. After visiting Cana with your guide, make the return trip to Tel Aviv, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
