The author Snorri Sturluson lived here around 1206-1241. Langjökull - The long-glacier is the second largest glacier in Iceland about 950km2 or around 367.000 square miles. The Whale fjord tunnel 5770m. (18,930ft.) long and reaches a depth of 165m (541 ft.) below sea level opened in 1998
