Be ready for your private Emberá village experience at the time and place specified when you were booking. Depending on what option you chose, your private group could consist of just yourself or you and family or friends. Because this is a private tour, you can expect very special attention during this 8-hour day.
Start by getting picked up at your Panama City hotel early in the morning for a 1-hour drive to Lake Alajuela. Members of the Emberá village will meet you, and load your group into their canoe for a short ride across the lake. The canoe ride will last about another 45 minutes, and you can choose to stop at a waterfall for a quick dip in the water before you go to the village.
When you reach the village, you have about 10 minutes of free time to wander. Watch a presentation, and become more familiar with the Emberá culture, its traditions, and its crafts. Grab lunch while in the village, and then decide if your group would like to take a short rainforest hike where you can learn about medicinal plants from one of the village elders.
Next up, more free time is on your schedule. You can explore the village as you walk around the area. You’ll be able to purchase gifts (own expense), get a temporary tattoo, or talk with some of the local people.
Before you get in the canoe again to ride back down the lake, get sent off by watching traditional Emberá dances and hearing traditional Emberá music.
