Dublin Coastal Hike with Howth Adventures

This hike was so much fun, and very educational as well. Our guide Zach was phenomenal. He grew up in Howth and was a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of Howth- you could tell how passionate he is about sharing Howth with everyone. (His dog Loki was entertaining too). The history and views from the cliffs are highlights of this hike. Zach also recommended a great restaurant for some of the freshest local seafood we ever had. Take this tour for a wonderful local experience!

I didn't think too much about this hiking tour when I booked it. Like every other tourist, I was most looking forward to the Guinness and Jameson Distillery. Wow! After hiking in Howth, I was surprised that there is a different (in a good way) side of Ireland. Leonie, our tour guide, was very informative about the area, history, and folklore. She came well prepared with a first aid kit, so you know you are cared for. Leonie guides you to the trail most people don't know about. Hikers who are afraid of heights and have trouble going down the long stairs should avoid this hike.

Second time doing this walk & both times have been excellent. Zack is extremely friendly & knowledgeable about the area. He really puts the mixed group at ease and you feel like friends afterwards! So lovely to have Lokey the Hungarian Viszla join us too. The scenery is breathtaking. Highly recommended and that’s why I’ve done it twice!

Awesome tour! The town of Howth is a great place to visit when in the Dublin area anyway, but our personal tour with Matt made it even more fantastic. We learned about the town, a bit of its history, saw areas where the locals live (including some small trails that most visitors would miss), and, of course, hiked along the cliff. He even provided some suggestions for lunch, even though there are no bad options in Howth. Can you visit and hike Howth on your own? Yes, but this is much more fun! Wear good shoes (the cliff path can get slippery when wet) and you need to be in relatively good shape for the walk. My favorite tour of my time in Ireland!
