The tour begins by visiting the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the national church of Italy. Michelangelo worked in this basilica. Visit to Santa Maria della Vittoria and the "Ecstasy of Santa Teresa", Bernini's statue.
We arrive at the garden of Sallustio, which belonged to Caesar and later owned by emperors Vespasiano or Adriano.
We continue to Piazza Fiume, where we will admire the 3rd century Aurelian walls (19 km still in use).
Lunch in a typical restaurant in Rome. After lunch, an excellent ice cream and we are ready to see Porta Pia, Michelangelo's latest project.
Let's now take the metro to Ostia Antica
Ostia Antica was founded in the 4th century BC like a military camp.
We have many interesting ruins now from the period of Emperors Hadrian and Antoninus Pius.
Businessmen, free men and foreigners lived here where we still have a theater (still in use today), bathrooms, mitres, temples, houses with mosaics.
Metro back to Rome.
