One of the few tours that walks a full circuit of the famous City Walls with smaller sized groups for the quality and comfort of guests. Available as either a PUBLIC Tour with individual places or as a PRIVATE Tour. 1. Private Tours (2 hrs)(1-15 places) Alternative starting points and routes can be requested and adapted to facilitate disabled or wheelchair guests. 2. Public Tour -Individual Places (75-90mins)(1-15 places) 3. Full/Half Day tours are available within the Specialised History tour option This tour gives a wider history of the city, including St Columba, Vikings, Normans and Irish chieftains, the Plantation of Ulster, the building of its iconic Walls, the siege of 1688/89, the aftermath of Scots/Irish emigration to the USA, industrialisation, railways and bridge building, the 1840s potato famine and resulting emigration , the Home Rule crisis and partition, the city in two World Wars , the recent Troubles, the peace process including Brexit, and the Derry Girls.

First hand history

This is what you hope for when you sign up for a local tour: a genuinely knowledgable person, who can link what's in front of you with it's larger context. This is especially important in Northern Ireland, where events that happened hundreds of years ago are still relevant. What is particularly impressive is that our guide grew up in Derry, in the worst of the troubles, and yet was able to tell the story in an entirely neutral way. The weather wasn't great on the day, and yet I wasn't ready for the tour to end, it was that good.

Fantastic walking tour

My husband and I did the City Walls walking tour with David from Derrie Danders today - it was fantastic! What an amazing 1500 year history the city has and David covers all of it in perfect bite size chunks as you walk around the city walls. And covers the political aspects of the more recent Troubles in an informative but impartial way. Loved the murals of the Derry Girls, the Derry “Boys” and the Derry “Women”. Highly recommend.

Great tour

David have a great tour. He provided the history of Londondery for the last 1,500 years. He addressed Bloody Sunday and The Troubles with as very balanced point of view. Definitely recommend.

Great tour of Derry city walls with David

Fabulous history lesson, walking along the completely intact old city walls. David did a great job balancing 17th century events with more contemporary happenings. There is more to Derry than the Troubles! He was a font of information on those darker times, too.
