Denali Flyer Flightseeing Tour from Talkeetna

Summary

Talkeetna boasts skyscrapers of granite and ice instead of steel. Explore the wonders of Denali National Park on this 1.25-hour flightseeing tour. Check in at Talkeetna State Airport 30 minutes before your flight and board your plane seating a max of six passengers. (You may also schedule a complimentary transfer from your local hotel, inn, B&B, or rail depot.) With a guaranteed window seat, you can sit back and relax as you enjoy the views. A two-way headset is provided so you can communicate with your pilot as he/she shares commentary along the way. View the vertical rise of Denali starting at its base of around 2,000 feet (610 meters) to over 20,320 feet (6,194 meters). You’ll see the West Buttress Route of Denali, a popular place to climb, and the Kahiltna glacier system (two miles/three km wide and 45 miles/72 km long).   Then, fly east and take in the flowing river of the Ruth Glacier, the Sheldon Amphitheater (glacier landings often done here), and the Great Gorge with its mile-high granite walls. You’re looking at the world’s deepest gorge. Snap shots of the intensely blue meltwater pools that dot the glaciers.   During your flight, you’ll see Denali Mountain (20,320 ft/6194 meters), Mt Hunter (14,573 ft/4,442 meters)) and Mt Foraker (17,400 ft/5,304 meters), which tower above the other peaks of the Alaska Range, forming the northern horizon. Snap shots of Mount Frances, formally known as Bergchen, German slang for ‘Little mountain,’ and the North Buttress of Mount Hunter, a 4,000-foot climbing challenge. Curious about the glaciers and want to set foot on one? Upgrade your flight package to include a landing on an actual glacier. Stand beneath the towering mountains in a tranquil world of snow and ice, before you’re taken back to the airport.
