Receive an early-morning pickup from your New Delhi hotel or the city airport. After your drive along the Yamuna Express Highway, you’ll arrive in Agra and meet your guide to begin the day’s activities.
Make the first stop at the iconic UNESCO World Heritage-listed Taj Mahal, where you’ll be shuttled around this sprawling site aboard a “battery bus” to help save time. Continue your morning by proceeding to another UNESCO site, the red sandstone Agra Fort. Learn about the fort’s history and construction in the 16th century. You’ll also hear about the building’s blend of Central Asian and Hindu architecture as you tour its intricate collection of mosques and courtyards.
Pause around midday to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (if included in your tour option) before proceeding to your third stop of the day, the Mehtab Bagh. Also known as the “Moonlight Garden” this serene garden complex sits directly opposite the wondrous Taj Mahal. The garden’s collection of lush greenery provides the perfect visual backdrop for photographing and viewing this most famous of world mounuments.
Finish your day with some souvenir shopping in Agra. You might bargain for some beautiful marble handicrafts, “Zari-style” embroidery, leatherwork, brass objects, jewelry, and carpets, plus much more. You’ll be transferred back to New Delhi the way you came, receiving a drop-off at your hotel or at the airport.
Please note: the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. Monument entry fees are included if indicated in your tour option, otherwise at your own expense.
