This full-day trip starts with an early morning pickup at your San Pedro Sula hotel between 5:00am and 5:30am. Your actual trip begins at 6am with a drive over to the Mayan Ruins of Copan. The car ride in your air-conditioned minivan takes about four hours, so sit back and relax. Once you reach the ruins, you can explore the area. Walk around, and admire the intricate carvings on the columns or the bricks of the buildings. There’s also a museum you can choose to go through as well. Afterward, it’s time to get some food. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with local cuisine (own expense). When you’re done eating, your group heads over to the Macaw Mountain Bird Park to catch a glimpse of the country’s national bird. The park also takes care of more than 100 birds who were mistreated as pets, so there are many other species to see while you're there. Next, sip on an afternoon cup of coffee, which is actually known as one of Honduras’ best coffees. Then, jump back into your minivan for the long ride back to your hotel in San Pedro Sula.

Why take this tour?

This full-day tour starts early morning pickup at your hotel at 5:00am, that way we avoid traffic. The ride takes 3.5 hours with a stop along the way for breakfast. (own expense). Once you reach the ruins, you will explore the area and admire the intricate carvings of the mayan stelae. You´ll admire the beauty of the Ceremonial Center, special focus on the Acropolis, the Hieroglyphic Staircase, the Ball Court, the Main Plaza and the Residential Areas. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with local cuisine (own expense). As optional activity, we can visit the Macaw Mountain Bird Park to catch a glimpse of the country’s national bird, the Ara Macao or Guacamaya. Finally, sip on an afternoon cup of coffee, which is actually known as one of Honduras’ best coffees. Please note: the road conditions at this time are not the best. This is a 420km - 250Miles rountrip. For the moment, all Mondays the Archeological Sites are CLOSED.
