Start with 7am pickup at your hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter, then start the 62-mile (100-km) trip to Hoa Lu, a former imperial city that ruled Vietnam during the 10th and 11th centuries. The two surviving imperial temples have a dramatic mountain backdrop and a fascinating history: visit Dinh King Temple and Le King Temple, whose beautifully-preserved architecture offers a glimpse of a bygone era.
Stop by a nearby restaurant for lunch, then continue to the Ngo Dong River, where you’ll board a boat for a 75-minute river trip to Tam Coc’s three limestone caves. Enjoy views of dramatic karst cliffs at the edge of the slow-moving river, then duck out of the current to explore the caves close up. Following your time on the Ngo Dong River, return to shore to meet the driver for the return trip to Hanoi. This tour concludes with 5pm drop-off at your hotel in Hanoi.
