Your day starts with an early-morning pickup in central Tel Aviv by air-conditioned vehicle. Bring sturdy shoes and refreshments. Catch some sleep on the drive east through the Judean Desert and then arrive at Masada, a first-century BC fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Head inside (own expense) and ascend on foot independently, following the path to the mountaintop ruins. At the summit, marvel at the views, as the sun rises over the Dead Sea and illuminates the mountainside, and then inspect the ancient ruins. Next, head to Ein Gedi, a nature reserve of palms, waterfalls, and pools. Go inside (own expense) and explore on your own before traveling to the Dead Sea, the Earth’s lowest point. Enjoy the salt waters and a mineral-rich mud bath at a private beach here before finishing your tour back at the Tel Aviv starting point.
