Contemporary Argentine Cuisine with a MasterChef finalist

Summary

This is a unique opportunity to visit and dine with Buenos Aires local Natalie, Masterchef finalist. Natalie will welcome you into her home in the beautiful Belgrano Chico neighborhood with a traditional papa and chorizo appetizer, a combination of sautéed potatoes with chorizo (Argentine’s most famous pork sausage) and a glass of vermouth. After your initial welcome, Natalie will lead you into her modern kitchen and offer you a corn-based, paprika and parmesan appetizer. She will then explain how she makes one of the most traditional dishes in Argentina, the “carbonada” using her secret ingredient.Carbonada is a delicious ossobuco stew, cooked for several hours along with traditional ingredients such as sweet potato, squash and corn. Natalie is used to present her dishes and cooking techniques with a lot of detail on TV, so make sure you are ready to take mental notes, while you assist her in the making of this traditional dish. She can also offer a traditional Argentine barbecue option instead during spring and summer. Leave with a full stomach and a few of her recipes, including details on how to make one of Argentina’s classic dishes.

Why take this tour?

Enjoy a private and authentic home-cooked meal with your host Natalie in her home. This is a perfect experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Many locals might know Natalie as a finalist of the international TV competition, MasterChef but Natalie’s story is linked to the culinary world from childhood. Her four grandparents came from Europe to Argentina and opened a very well-known boutique food store called Luxor in the Belgrano neighborhood, offering delicious European dishes and bakery products. Natalie has fond memories of her grandparents taking her to the store ever since she was five. She would sit on the kitchen table, witnessing and tasting the delicious food made by the chef and his team. Her grandfather had an unusually refined taste when it came to food - he taught her that every meal should be an experience, not just a formality. That’s what Natalie intends to convey as a Traveling Spoon host.
